True Love Stories

We all love to hear and read about true love stories. They are romantic, uplifting and inspirational. Every relationship has a true love story about how you met or possibly how he proposed. We watch movies about them all the time. Hollywood has made money hand over fist on romantic comedies and dramatic love stories. Almost every book we read and movie we see has a heroin and a hero who fall in love (or at the very least get together in some way!).

We also love to share our stories. We want everyone to know how wonderful and romantic our significant other can be and that they are ours to keep. I think in sharing our stories it also helps give those who have not yet found the one a little hope.

What is your true love story that you hold dear to your heart?

Many may not find my story very romantic but it’s my story and Corey certainly can be romantic at times in his Adam-Sandler-sort-of-way…

On the day he proposed to me we had just attended his friends wedding. I kind of made a joke to him about being together so long and I was still waiting for a ring (his friend and his girl were together for less than a year!). Corey’s friend also went on and on about how much he loved his new wife, how they were meant to be together, so on and so forth. It was actually beginning to be a little nauseating. Not really my thing, but obviously hers which is cool.

That night when I was in bed, Corey knelt down in the dark and placed a little box in my hand. I could see the white of the box inside. Half asleep, I felt the ring inside. I said to him in my sweet voice, “Baaaby… what are you doing?” He turned the light on and proceeded to tell me he knew he wasn’t as “romantic” as his friend but “I love you…” and he asked me to marry him.

He proceeded to tell me he had the ring for quite some time and he intended on proposing in two months when we went on vacation. He felt terrible after his friend showed him up at the wedding and he just couldn’t wait any longer! (Not to mention Corey’s brother just got engaged recently as well) And then he made some random joke about me being older than him… :) (Hey, it’s only by four years!)

Hey, it works for me. It was the sweetest thing ever. I knew he wasn’t the most romantic person in the world but I love his sense of humor (most of the time) and that is my kind of romance. It is my special love story and I love to share it.

Just as we have romantic love stories… before we met our “prince charming” many of us have experienced a first date gone very wrong. I know I have had my share.
