Loneliness

The fear of growing old
and being alone
tears at my heart
as I cry the last tear
from losing you.
The thought of never
knowing what it feels like
to be someone's very reason
for living terrifies me.
A mere fantasy
of everlasting true love
consumes my subconscious
and periodically reveals itself
to the conscious
simply to remind myself
I still believe it even exists.
