A Child Again

A Child Again

The little girl in me has returned.
The same one who didn’t fear
picking up the rock to find the snake.
The one who wasn’t afraid
to walk up next to the strange dog
just so she could pet him.

She remembers feeling pure joy
when her mother smiled at he
Crayon drawing because
it was made by her daughter.

The same joy she felt when
she had her first crush.
The little girl in me can once again
dance, sing, and play in the rain
recalling memories of freedom
and never-ending security.

Someone has released her.
Someone has reminded her
she is safe to give all the love
she has inside and see, feel, know…
She too is loved.
